Dining Room Lighting Solutions


Lighting is an aspect of home décor that can change the way a place feels. It has the ability to change the entire ambience of any part of the home. Dining room is a place where the family sits and eats together and it needs to be given a lighting that makes eating a pleasurable experience. Choosing the Right Fixture

1. Installation height: The apt height to install a chandelier for a dining room with a 8-foot high ceiling, is 30 inches above the table.

2. Width: for rectangular or oval-shaped tables, the width of the chandelier should be 12 inches less then the smallest side of the table. In case of square or round tables, it should be 18 inches less then the table's width.

3. Height of the chandelier: it should be approximately 3 inches per foot of the room's height. So, ceiling that is 8 foot long, should have a 24-inch high chandelier.

2. Dimmers: the basic function of these dimmers is to change the lighting of the dining room as per your mood. The other function performed by them is to balance the chandeliers and accent the lighting levels.

3. Down lights: the incandescent down lights are known to add ambience to the dining room. They are used to highlight the table centerpiece or even to light the artworks or serving tables.
